A few words about
What We Do
Our projects
Thematic areas
Echamiaito focuses on 5 main thematic areas;
Education youth and mentorship
low enrolment levels, poor transition level, high dropout rates and poor
infrastructural development. Hence, high illiteracy levels in the County ranging to
about 82% (Census 2019) with women recording the poorest results. The group
strategy is working with education stakeholders in the county on improving the
indicators here through engagement of duty bearers and right holders to take
deliberate efforts transforming this sector.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND ADVOCACY
In addition, it recognizes the challenges faced by women in the
leadership arena; both administratively and politically. This, traditionally has been a
preserve of men, a thing challenged in the modern set up, although still strongly
perpetuated in Turkana County. In using its networks, the group seeks for ways of
empowering women from an early age to recognize the importance of women
leadership. The group also seeks to economically empower women by connecting
them to organizations that promote leadership, social and economic empowerment.
The group also has a registered SACCO for economically empowering its members
and have a long-term plan to open this up to other women in need of financial
inclusion
CAPACITY BUILDING AND CAREER COACHING
By engaging in this, there is improved cross cultural leadership and management
skills, as well as developed intercultural competencies. Career Coaching prepares the
women to be more effective in their jobs and be ready to take up any challenge they
face in more constructive ways. It also helps them to assess their professional
situations with greater degree of honesty, curiosity, empathy and compassion. As
women are slowly getting introduced into the job market, Echami a ito would like to
see these ladies gain career confidence, insights, encouragement and inspiration.
NETWORKING AND PARTNERSHIP
This has been witnessed in many projects recently implemented for and with a
number of partners .

take care of their grandchildren (both schooling and out of school) in meeting all their
